Marabil Australian Shepherds

Our History....I was first drawn to the Aussies when I met a
black tri owned by well known horse photographer, Gail Bates.
He was always at the Quarter Horse shows and was quite
frankly, one of the prettiest dogs I'd ever seen. A few years
later I was showing my mom's Cavalier in AKC obedience and
began to see more and more of this great breed. I knew then,
without a doubt, that I would have an Aussie for myself.
I began actively searching for the right dog in 2000 and
eventually hooked up with renowned artist, Julie Rogers of
Gallery Aussies. Although my plans were for a blue bitch with
blue eyes, Julie kept saying that the pick puppy, a black tri
male, had that certain "charisma" that she felt was extra
special. She agreed to let the little boy come to California and I
have been grateful ever since! That little black bundle, soon
christened with the name RIOT, has brought laughter and joy
into my life every day since. When I got Riot, I told people, "I
only want one Aussie." They would laugh and say, "Aussies
are like chips, you can't stop at just one!" Boy was that the
truth! Riot was just 18 months old when his "baby sister",
Rumor, joined the family.

When it came time for me to choose a kennel name
for my Aussies, I sat down and listed out what I
wanted the name to "stand for" and what would help
me feel that I had achieved my goals. What came
to mind were things like - having integrity and faith
in my actions and choices, setting a standard of
personal excellence, choosing my path based on
longevity and the well being of my dogs, and being
a confident competitor without losing sight of what
brought me into the Aussie world - my love of these
great dogs themselves. Most of all, I wanted to
ensure that when someone got a dog from me, their
lives would be blessed with all the joy and laughter
that Riot and Rumor had brought to me.
When I put those thoughts and words together -
integrity, faith, living by example, confidence,
laughter, joy, and love, I kept coming back to the
two people who taught me all of those traits to begin
with - my parents, Marilyn and Bill. So, Marabil
Australian Shepherds was born! It's my very
small tribute to the two people whom I love more
than anyone else in this world...yes, even more than
my dogs! Like I've told them both, with such great
parents, I am one lucky puppy!
